I am new to the area. My 8 month old GWR are looking for some good places to duck hunt. I am not a big fan of public land due to years past getting shot at. I would really just like to work him more on retrieving the ducks thank I have been able to. Does anyone know of any land out there or have land that is available to hunt? Or even if anyone want to head out that doesnt have a dog and would like some company. mostly myself and a guy from work hit some small ponds that a farmer lets us hunt at but we've only gotten ducks out of there once, and its starting to get boring looking at decoys. I have a large spread of deeks, more than needed, 84 mixed and some goose decoys, all the calls and the dog. if anyone is looking for someone with a dog to help them out or has any info on some places to hunt please fill me in. I am living just south of the metro area near the airport. I dont mind driving to get somewhere as long as there is something to shoot. thanks

There are tons of WMA's that hardly get hunted fairly close to the cities, I'll hit em to go pheasent hunting and see alot of ducks and very few hunters... get a PRIM map, or there are WMA maps put out by the DNR that will help alot... Im sure someone here will help you out also... good luck with your puppy in his first year!  Wirehairs/drahtars/pudle pointers are cool dogs, I know a few guys that have them, great do-everything dogs! :happy1:
