WHO?S HAVING MORE FUN?
THE DOGS OR THE AUDIENCE?
THE CORRECT ANSWER IS ALL THE ABOVE!

Dogs are more than welcome at Game Fair, they are invited to come and take center stage in numerous dog events. Over a million people have attended Game Fair in the last 25 years and the number of dogs in that time is probably pretty darn close. Visitors can simply walk their leashed dog around the grounds or let them compete in one of the many events. Some of the events even have large prizes for the top competitor.

Hunter?s Special: This is a brand new dog event at Game Fair testing the ability to make four retrieves over land and water. Speed, marking ability and quality of retrieve are all factors. The daily winner receives the title of ?Hunting Dog of the Day? and a prize. Each of the daily winners compete the last Sunday of Game Fair for a trophy and grand prize.

Eukanuba Scurry: Dog and puppies race for the best time making retrieves on land and from the lake. The event is located at the south end of the lake and sponsored by IAMS Dog Food.

Long Jump off the Dock: Follow the oohs and aahs from the crowd as they watch dogs of all sizes race down the runway and launch themselves off the dock on a retrieve. Jumps over 20 feet are common. The competition heats up the last Sunday of Game Fair when the daily winners square off to see who is the champ.

Obstacle Course: Speed and agility is the name of the game as dogs go over, under, around and through the obstacles making one retrieve on land and another in the water. Located on Pheasant Hill, this event is a great opportunity to see a wide variety of breeds in action.
Pointing Dog Event: Dogs hunt natural cover on a leash to point the most pheasants in a three-minute period. A prize goes to the dog that points the most birds.

Decoys, Decoys: Making a retrieve through a field of decoys is no small task. Doing it faster than any other dog is quite a challenge not to mention fun to watch.

Dash for Cash: A lot of doggy treats can be purchased for $500 which is the top prize for the dog that can run the fastest through the decoys on a single retrieve. All entry fees for this competition are donated to the Build a Wildlife Area project.

A more detailed summary of each dog event can be found online at www.gamefair.com. Game Fair takes place August 11, 12, 13 and August 18, 19, 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 80 acres of woods and water at Armstrong Ranch Kennels, six miles northwest of Anoka.
