Fish On Bait and Sport

Lake Minnewaska

LATE SEASON BITE WILL BE PICKING UP!!!  The night bite on Minnewaska is still pretty good.  Went out for only two hours last night and caught 3 nice walleyes and 3 smallies with the biggest being 18 inches.  Nice fish!  All were caught on F11 Vampire with fireline while the F11 Vampire with "mono" caught ZERO.  What is the deal with that?  There are more people starting to fish from the beach in the evening...I don't know why they wait until this time of the year since there is actually a good bite from the beach all summer. ??  I would highly recommend a jig and minnow in 9 to 13 ft of water off the beach starting around 3 pm...that is usually very good at this time of the year.  Several boats off "School Point" as well...I am sure there are fish being caught there as well.  Crappies off the west side of School Point and out from Peter's Resort.  Sunfish all over...just get to 10 to 16 feet for the 8 to 9 ouncers.  Should not be a problem catching a nice limit in short order.  Caught another 28 inch pike the other night as well.  Thought I had the 30 inch walleye on, but no...still in search of the 30 incher.  Reef Runners in 12 to 14 feet of water are still my favorite during the day.  200 series will catch just about anything!  Bass all over!  We still have a good supply of Red Tails ($7 per doz. special) as well as shiners, suckers, fatheads, and all of the basics.

Fish On!!
