I'm heading out to Colorado for the 1st time at the end of October and just have a few questions.I will be shooting a 7mm and was wondring what grain bullet you suggest? Also can you think of anything I may need to bring out of the ordinary? I have all of the basics but was looking for things people have over looked when they have went elk hunting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We have been out west elk/mule deer numerous times and there always seems to be something that is overlooked.

I would say depending on if you are staying at a resort, a camp, or hiking in with horses you're choices for gear and what not is varied so just make a list of things you need to bring, and go over it numerous times on situations you will run across in the field. Situations such as rope for hanging meat, walkie talkies for contact (per colorado rules?), GPS, overhead topographs from USGS, two of everything, etc.... That is usually how my friends and I figure what we need to take for any situation we may run into.

We usually take an enclosed trailer with us for a freezer, generator, and all the odd-gear that takes up a bunch of room like extra bows, targets, tubs of camping equipment, extra tent, food, etc.....

Hopefully that helps a little bit, sorry I don't have a good description of what grain to use as we have always been out there bowhunting.

Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.
