October 16th report:
Decided to take the Mrs. out on Thursday for her first trip to Geneva in many moons. We fished from 6:45 am to 1:00 pm. The early morning pike action was non existent but we stuck it out longer than usual since the daytime bass fishing has been below expectations this fall so far. We managed to catch 4 pike with the wife catching the largest one. We also had 2 short hits while trolling. Trolling is boring until you get that first big smash of the day and the drag starts to sing.

Smallmouth fishing left a lot to be desired although we did manage to catch enough to tell us our methods were the right presentations and baits. Correct depths seemed to be all over the map as they are scattered all throughout the water column now. Water temp was holding at the 63 degree range with everyone anticipating the big shallow water invasion. Well, don't hold your breath gang since this has been one strange Fall pattern as far as the day fishing goes.

See ya on the water,

Lee

***Fishing rule #1: The least experienced fisherman always catches the biggest fish. Fishing rule #2: The worse your line is tangled, the better is the fishing around you. Fishing rule #3: Fishing will do a lot for a man but it won't make him truthful.
