Upper Whitefish

Just got back from a week vacation from Heath's resort. Had a real good time. Unfortunately my boat was being difficult so I didn't bring it. Had to use the resort boat.

Slab sunnies!!! on the channel end of Swede's bar in 10-12 feet. I was dropping off the side of the boat till I hit bottom and cranked up 1 turn instant action. The big ones were just taking it away and easy to pull in. The little guys, tossed back unless they bled were the fighters. I had my kids slip bobbers set at 8 ft. You could catch you limit in 30 min, but we tossed a lot back to make more time. Early morn worked the best.

Only a couple Crappie, all were nice size.

A few bass caught to, mostly 1 lb'rs and a 2 lb. we caught them trolling a leech out to the bar.

Not many perch caught, but some with decent size. only kept two though.

Caught four Northerns while fishing for sunnies. One was decent and tossed back two hammer handles, kept a larger hammer handle because he really wanted to be with me. After releasing him twice, I got him again and kept him. He wouldn't go away! He was only about 2-2.5 lbs. Other guys there targeting Northerns did pretty well.

Did not do ANY walleye fishing because I want to do that out of my boat, and the resort doesn't like their boats out after dark anyway.

But we had a real nice fish fry up there and brought home a few large baggies of sunnies.

BTW, the sunnies were hitting on everything. Crappie minnows, leeches, angleworms and Night crawlers.   The Morthern hit on minnows in the same spot. But I heard of guys cathing them on the bayside of big island. By Swedes bar.
