I just got word that all ammo prices are going up 10% at the wholsale level.  That will be the third increase since the first of the year.  Don't expect to see prices going down any time soon, if at all.
From what I hear it is because of the increase in cost ofall of the raw materials mostly because of all the construction in India and China.

The military has more than tripled their orders for small arms ammo.  However it is the cost of raw materials that is making thr prices go up.

Yep... its all connected, the raw materials cost going up as the demand does, then ya got the militaries, from all countries using it, along with the US, and especially China and India incre :bs:asing their demand on raw materials. Then for good measure ya have a tilt in our economy and Increasing gas prices to help the situation.... Id invest in Ammo companies but I have a feeling people will start shooting less now....

The cost of lead, powder, brass and copper are not the only driving costs either.
The cost of fuel, petroleum and everthing eles for that matter are the true drivers of these increases.

The war is only a very small factor, but it's the easy target to point to.

Last I checked the scrap dealer was paying more for lead than aluminum.

Does any one know if ya have to be a certified firearms dealer to order flats/multiple cases of shotgun ammo?  I know guys who have bought shells that way to save $$$, but Im not sure if they went directly thru the mfg. or if they went thru a buyer/retailer....

You do not need to be a dealer to order ammo, however you will have to find someone to sell it to you.  For the most part a wholesaler will not sell it to you if you do not have a store front and a Federal Firearms License.  The Manufactures sell to wholesalers for the most part.
Just remember if you don't support your local sport shop now they will not be there in the future for you.

Commodities spot prices, I hear, went down a little.  But keep your shirt on, I doubt if you'll snatch up a 6 dollar bag of shot like I did when I was a helluva lot younger.  Metal prices swing widely given time and market fluxes/influences.  China's massive growth pulse is certainly a reason, you gotta love those millions of hourly workers, mandatory O.T.....12 Cents an hour....and they are happy.....and gunless

Well boys, you are ot going to like this..........
I heard yesterday that component prices were going up about 25%.
I also know that most of the wholesalers are out of .223 ammo and when
they do get it in it goes out in a matter of hours.
Obama has already stated that he wants to do away with Gun Shows and
is looking at a Federal tax on guns and ammo of as much as 200%.
