Besides my rifle, if this law passes I will never case another gun I don't think.  I could see if you take your mantle piece out hunting why you might want to.  But my Browning Gold goes through willows, sloughs, banged around in the blind, etc.  I do tons of pheasant hunting.  I go through a gun case a year.  Flipping plastic zippers suck arse.  I did finally find one with a metal zipper for $80 and 3 years later the bottom ripped out and I had to sew it up.  Maybe is someone built a decent product at an affordable cost I'd think about a case.  Safety.............I don't need laws passed to keep myself safe.

I will ditto that.

Most have never and will never be in a situation where they have to get in and out of a vehicle over 40 times a day and legally use a gun. It's a pain.

I love hunting in SD & ND with the no gun case deal. Actually duck hunting sucks so bad around here that ND is the only place I hunt them now. I would totally be for not having a gun case.

I would be all for a no case law.

I own a place in SD and a case is not needed but I have worked many years to buy some higher dollar guns. You will find me casing my guns always just to protect them.

Just a little story to go along with this. I hunt with a great friend who lives in South Dakota. We have had a few incidents with this case no case deal between me and him. Once well we were sitting at our places(we own next to each other). I have my $2500.00 O/U sitting in my 2 gun hard travel case, open in the back of my truck. The next thing I know, he has turned out his two 100lb plus retrievers and they mind like a 2 year old kid. Both of them bail up into the back of my truck. I'm fricken flying to rescue my gun before certain serous damage to can occur. I'm trying to be nice, as he just can't understand what could be the problem. I politely tell hey Ryan..this is a $2500.00 gun...I want to keep it nice for many years. I did save it but it was the 8th wonder of the world that I did.

Same thing well driving around hunting. He has a 4 year old camo 835 Mossberg he just throws in truck and how it lands or what lands on top of it doesn't matter. He;s frustrated at why I have to case my gun.."Your not going to be able to get that out quick if we should see some birds and have to bail out".......Buy the way, this is everybody from South Dakota. Their gun carries the same value as a shovel. They don't understand us Sota's and caring about our gins getting banged up.."IT'S JUST A GUN"

We do have some laughs about it back at camp at times though

Well I shoot a camo super black eagle and have had plenty of dogs step on it and it doesn't bother me. You can't even tell after you clean it. My OU doesn't come to the blind with me and I wouldn't carry that one with out a case either. You just have to use common sense. One of my friends lives in SD and he calls it gods country. Probably because there isn't as many laws. :coffee:

Buffle

I understand entirely why you'd want to protect a valuable gun. I have a gun I value also, it's an original 1906 30-06 handed to me by gramps. It don't leave the house. Not so much that it has any value but it's worth something to me.

On the other hand as I'm sure you will attest after fixin one for me at the soup shoot that most of mine aren't always givin the best of care. Guess my ? is this if a gun has any value why would one take it hunting?

I have no problem taking a nice gun hunting..that's what I bought it for. I just take care of it, ya..it will probably get some dings in it here and there over the years, but to just whip it in the truck and let it slide around and have dogs walk all over it. That's just not in the cards for me. I take real pride in carrying a sweet gun.

This my Pheasant gun

I figured that and nothing wrong with that either. Just me but I won't take a gun outta the house that I value. I look at them as a tool just like a plier.

Nice gun guess if it was my gun it would be one of my stay at home guns. I have talked to many folks about this an some say I use the 7734 outta em and others say I abuse/neglect them. Well take yiour pick but I want a gun that I don't have to worry about it losing value when I go hunting.
