I don't get out too often. I tend to find more pairs (as in still attached to the skull) than I do antlers that have dropped.  This has been the scenario for about 5-6 yrs now. It's just a theory of mine but I believe it has to do with the areas I look. Most of the areas I look are smaller river bottoms close to the road.  My thinking is that these deer were hit by cars and made it off the road but died due to the injuries of being hit. Anyone else had similar findings?

In the last 2 days I have found 9 dead deer near the road in the areas I checked. Two antlered bucks, 2 nubbins, and the rest does.  Very common around the roadways where I check to.

I live in MN, but work in Iowa, so end up doing a lot of shed hunting down there. All of my sheds this year and the big buck are from southern Iowa.  It beats sitting in the hotel after work!

Good sheds Tim and Scott. Wish I had the time to get out. I might try to go today or tomorrow.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

My son and I got out today for a short shed hunt. We did not find any sheds but I heard him ranting and raving about something. Hoping it was a shed I turned to look and this is what I saw

It took a while to explain that we could not keep them. He said if I got my gun and shot the goose then we could just take the goose home to eat, and we could keep the eggs warm in are pockets till we got home
Are you a hunter or do you just kill things? Respect the wildlife!

Was looking at hunting books and came accross this site. http://www.goshedhunting.com/
I got the book and so far it's very interesting.  Joe Shead the author is a Wisconsin native.
Lots of good tips on where to look for sheds, including public land.
