duck boat blinds

now that duck season has ended I am building a new duck boat and blind for it. I have a 16ft by 70in flat bottom I am building a blind for it. Does anyone have any opinions on how I should do it. My plan is to build a rigid blind to eye level when sitting in the boat and then a see through blind up another 2 feet that is removable or can be folded down. on this then a flit roof and an optional rain fly for the roof. I am looking for something easy to set up if I am by myself, dry when its raining, and can be packed easily for long drives..... let me know if you have any dos or donts. thanks

i built a frame out of 1" pvc and connectors. it worked great light collapsable and you can attatch any light weight fabric to it. i used 4' X8' blind material and you can buy camo "screen" for the top. you can build it custom for your boat and make it break down as much as you want. i would say that you can even put that grass mats on it and it would work great. let me know if you want pics or more info on the one that i made for my 16' boat. best thing is its very cheap.

Cheap is good. I am leaning towards a rigid base frame around the boat and then a removable top to it. I am also leaning towards alum. or galv. conduit for the frame, I think it might be a little more sturdy. beings I try to take everyone i know and try to get them into the sport... some of their common sense in a boat is not the best and I think someone might lean on the pvc and break it and take a swim. I'll keep running it through my head for a little while before I get started. Thanks for the info

I got an Avery quick-set blind I got used for cheap. You may be able to find one if you look around. As far as building a blind, all the ones I have tried to do myself have been failures.

I hunted out of a buddy's boat with it and liked it, now I have that on my two boats.

I was thinking of building one too. I was going to use pvc pipe and fit it in tight and that way I can take it down for the drive . I have it all drawn up and just need to buy everything.

we used weaved grass pieces that can be bought anywhere, then used a netting and zip tied it to a metal tubing frame
