My plots are looking great and Deer seem to be liking them. I also have a bunch of pics over my ponds I had dug last year. The reason the two bear are with each other is because it's mating season for them right now. You can see the one is slightly bigger. I've gotten 4 different bear on camera so far.

I will post some more after this weekend when I go check my cameras again. I love planting food plots and improving the habbitat. If only I could do this for a living. That would be heaven for me.

Great pictures.  Looks like you have some nice spots there.  The hardest part of food plots is getting started.  Once the plots are established (leveled, rocks and stumps remove, and weed free) It is easy and fun to keep them going. You can experiment with what you plant and when you plant it.  I see your brassicas are up and doing great.  When did you plant that plot?  We usually plant them in the middle of August.

Yeah that is exactly what I'm doing is experimenting with the brassicas. I stopped listening to the guys on tv and decided to try planting my Brassica's as soon as I could which this yr was in late may and early June. I figured since bucks need protein for rack growth and does need protein for making milk for the fawns why not plant a plant that is very high in it. The whole thing about having to wait for a hard frost is not holding any water here. They are hammering my rape and turnips. I'm sure some of the rape will seed out and dry up but that's ok because it did it's job already. I use to plant in August too but I'm sick of having 8" rape and turnips that the deer have wiped out in one week. Our soil is not that great and we're in the northern part of the state so growing season is very short so my brassicas were always small and didn't offer much food. Next week I will be seeding Dwarf essex rape in this plot so I will have some fresh groth come sept. This yr was all about experimenting and I've found some things that are working great and I'll be doing some other new ideas in the next few weeks to see how it works out. Deer are so different area to area it's unreal. Trying new things is the only way to find out what works in the area your in. I will say my neighbors are a little jealous.

Last year we planted the brassicas in late may.  They never got more than 18 inches tall.  The deer found them and wiped them out in a couple of weeks. right down to the ground.  They never waited for the frost.   We are west of grand rapids.

We are over by Hinkley and the deer are hammering them now. Some turnip plants are close to 2 ft tall with softball size turnips. I'm excited to see how well the plot does as it get's bigger and later in the year. I'll keep everyone posted on this. We're getting our box stands up next week that we're building now. We're also putting in our rye, austrian winter peas, buckwheat and Dwarf essex rap in then also. Just praying for more rain now.

Seeing your photos and plots, you seem to know what you are doing.  Have you or would you ever be open to helping me or others get plots going?  If so how do you charge for it?

Great pictures Big E and nice, healthy looking plots. 

I've planted small, woodland food plots up here for 3 years now using blends of various clovers, rape, dwarf essex, brassica, chickory, rye grass, orchard grass, turnips and some corn also.  I love getting pictures from them and seeing the hard work pay off by attracting wildlife and improving your property.  These plots keep getting bigger and bigger, it's kind of an addiction.

It's VERY addictave. I know what you mean about the plots getting bigger. It seems every year I'm looking for more places to plant and new land to put plots on.
