man some of those ideas are always around but forgotten
tired of cleaning your grill off with a dirty wire brush and an old scraper -- Judy remembered an old idea- you have to try in yourself to believe it--drop the tools and grap a hunk of alum foil , fold it, wad it up- 1 peace does a whole grill, it gets it right down to the rods no matter how old --unreal--

another idea comes from Dirtball2 about keeping leeches alive without any effort
what an idea that works
tuck them in a nylon stocking, drop them in the back of the toilet -in the tank, it always has fresh and cold water daily--just dont tell the wife you did it

any more ideas, we try anything once--just post it

well I have to go for now--Judge Judy just came in with an all wet look from top to bottom still spiting water out muttering something about a stupid hose I should have fixed or replaced this spring--oop's sorry about my luck- Ill be in the court room again tonight to recieve another sentence, my guess is it will be short cause shes soaked from head to toe and wants that d++++ hose fixed now-- while shes changing

its just like Day's Of our Lives around here-snap fizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!

This goes along with the same idea about keeping the leeches.

Do you have a lot of minnows die during your summer weekend fishing trip?

Put those little buggers on ice.  We have an extra fridge at the cabin.  So, when we are not on the lake, the bucket goes in that fridge.  When we head out to the lake, we throw a tray of ice cubes in the minnow bucket.  You'll be amazed when you peak in that bucket each morning, and only a couple are floating at the top (instead of the majority).  It works for us!

That does work for keeping minnows alive. One thing some people don't know is how temperature sensitive a minnow is. It only works one way though, too a certain degree.

From warm to cold will put them into shock and kill half of them. From cold to warm usually won't kill many but will shorten the life of them all.

I learned this the hard way back when I made my living as a commercial bait dealer. Hauling them down southern US in summer and winter. In order to keep them healthy I had to keep the temperature change under 3 degrees an hr.

Good tips Griz and Russ.  I have a refrigerator in the basement that I use only for beer and bait.  I got tired of throwing minnows away after a trip that were still alive plus they aren't cheap so I bought one of those floating areators (mine is a minnow miser) that is small.  I put the minnows in a 5 gallon pail or leave them in an insulated minnow bucket and into the fridge they go with the minnow mizer.  I have an adapter for the areator that you can plug into a 110 outlet if not you can attach it to a deep cycle battery. The minnows keep up to a week or more this way if you change water.  I keep extra jugs of water in the fridge so it is the same temperature as the old water.  I do the same for leeches and have kept them from may till august.  If you change water on leeches do it every 3 days and don't use chlorinated water.  I use water from my sump or well water and let it sit for a few days in the fridge before using.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly as much fun.? Robert Traver "Anatomy of a Fisherman"

Shakey

Yea I wasn't real exact on all that after doing it so long I figure it's common knowledge, but it's not to everyone.

If you try storing leeches in chlorinated water you could just as well use gasoline. Also stay away from galvanized buckets for leeches, if your storing them.
