I hate the title " Fall Fishing" but when the water is warmer then the air it is time to start thinking that way. Yesterday under dark threading sky and windy conditions I spent some time on the water. Northerns were on the bite as were a few bass who gave me an air show. I have not had any bass all summer break the surface and yesterday I had three clear water and look like they were dolphins at sea world. I had a few bite offs and lost a decent bass who also broke my line, I hate when that happens. Time of the year to remember to sharpen your hooks and when the northern are active to add a leader. I tried out some of the new paddle baits and the 5" version were no problem for 12" bass to inhale them. They go through the reeds and pads with no problem and I will be giving them a work out now that the weather is starting to cool and reeds are starting to lay down on the water. As some of you may know this is when I really start hitting the water so if ya want to share fall fishing experiences this is the string to post at... As for fishing being slow I caught 9 northerns 8 bass and lost another 4 fish in about three hours.

glad to hear someones catching something. spent the weekend on clitherall lake with decent success i should say, between the 3 of use we each boated about 7 eyes each with each keeping 4 of them. that was nightly. didnt hook up with any northerns at all, got bit off twice so northern is a possible suspect. caught a nice 3 1/2 pound small mouth, been awhile sense i have boated one of those, and a few large mouths one being about 3lbs. very windy weekend up there on the lake. but that was my last fishing trip of the summer. may poke out one more time when im up duck hunting but thats doutful.

Evening was so nice I had to go fishing, bad thing is I think I picked the wrong lake, three little bass and two small northerns. Very Very quiet, only excitment I had was a rather large northern made a follow to the boat and just nipped at my spinnerbait. Would have loved to hook up with her as she was an easy mid 30" fish. :banghead: Hardly a breeze and by 6pm the lake was as quiet as glass. must have been what was wrong since about everytime I have been out this summer it has been gale winds!
