Reminder - Check Your Deer Management Unit Designation

Several Deer Management Units have changed unit designation this year.  Please check your unit designation before hitting the woods to see which carcass tags can be used and if any additional antlerless tags are required after the purchase of your deer hunting license.  The antlerless tags that come free with a deer hunting license which say they are valid in "Herd Control & EAB" units, are not valid in "Regular" units (white units on map): http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/wildlife/HUNT/DEER/dmu.htm

Most regular units will have antlerless (bonus) tags available for the deer 2009 hunting season, except for thirteen units.  These tags are no longer awarded through a hunter's-choice application process or party permit system.  Since 2005, unit-specific antlerless tags for regular units have been distributed through a simpler, first-come, first-serve system.  Antlerless tags have been on sale since August 22, but most regular units still have antlerless tags available.  Spread the word and act soon if remaining availability is getting low: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/cs/BonusAvailability.htm
