Gun Transfers-

I am just wondering if anyone knows were I can find the actual laws that specify whether or not you need to transfer a firearm when bought from a private party.  example  I am buying a handgun and a rifle from a relative that wants me to show them it.

I have always been under the impression that you don't need anything.
