My financial adviser stopped by the other day for me to sign some papers and told me about a money market account that he is putting his clients into.  I hesitate to post this as someone will probably think that I am getting some kind of benefit by doing this (I am not).  I am not promoting this company but if you are interested, you can go to their website and check it out at emigrantdirect.com.  They are currently paying 5.15% interest (my current money market pays 4.5%) and there is no minimum balance or initial investment.  You can transfer funds in and out on-line between your checking account and the fund.

Again, I am not promoting this one way or another but providing this information to others on this website who may be interested.  I am not posting this on any other website that I frequent.  If this post is against the by-laws of this website, I apologize in advance.

Thanks Shakey Legs... 5.15% is a very good rate on what accumalates to a short term fund.? The best that I have found out there is Paypal's (www.paypal.com) MM fund that you can sign up for.? They will also send you a debit card that you can use and get 1.5% back into your account instantly.?

This fund has goen from paying roughly 1.8% - 4 years ago to now paying 5.02%.? Last year when my wife and I were saving for our wedding and honeymoon we made over $100 in 6 months.? It paid for those few extra "beverages" while in Ireland.? ?;D

The only downfall is it takes about 2 days to get your funds into the account, and takes about 4 days to get it out of the account (if you wanted to transfer it back to your checking at your bank.?

I will take a look at that account and maybe use that.

I am all signed up and going to transfer some $ over there this week.  Thanks for the suggestion, it was rather painless to get signed up and from what I have read and seen their website has been upgraded in the past year or so.

Scott,

Glad to be of help.  I have had to call them a couple of times regarding beneficiary information and they have been very helpful.
