Hi,

My name is Paige.  I am from Wisconsin but live in Minnesota for parts of the year for my college co-op job.  I'm interested in hunting whitetail but don't really know many people to learn from.  At home in WI, my dad and I hunt in our back yard some times but then again, I'm here and not there.  I've only sat up in our stands a couple times and didn't see much.  Now I'm a little bit older and have more patience.  Do you have any advice on how I can get some experience?  Even just tagging along and observing especially since my only gun (12 ga tactical) is not the best for hunting haha.  But I'd like to learn some tips and tricks and how to gut 'em.  Thanks for any advice! :)

welcome to MNO ::welcome:: ::welcome::

only way to get experience is to go out and do it and learn from your mistakes. now the trip back and forth from mn to wis is a little ways, so it does make it a little harder. what kind of tips and tricks you looking for? gutting them is a different story. there are lots of places on the internet that give you a visual aid of how to gut a deer, i learn best by actually seeing it done. Questions about certain methods and such will be a little easyer for you to get some good answers.

Find a place to hunt and scout in the fall, Kinda late to do that now. Different hunting
lands takes different approaches to hunt it. Ask questions here and you will get a lot of
answers and maybe a place to hunt next season.

I was just advised of a great website that covers just about everything from gear to butchering the deer yourself.

http://www.eckrich.org/

Check it out it is very informative. My group wanted to give butchering a deer a shot and this site was very helpful, but it covers just about everything.
