MILLE LACS LAKE - Malmo Market, Lynwood Elliott, State Hwy 47 and 18 East, NE corner of Mille Lacs (320-684-2295)
There's not a lot of anglers on the lake. Most have decided to spend these last few nice days getting ready fish houses ready for ice.  Anglers with open water on their minds have been doing well, fishing from shore. Shallow rock points on the East side have been producing big walleyes. Anglers are casting shallow running rapalas and bobber fishing with fatheads, from midafternoon till dark.  Perch anglers are still catching fish around the Malone Island bridge area bobber fishing with crappie minnows.  Muzzle loader opener was slow, balmy weather led to little deer movement. Deer still seem to be hanging in the swamps and moving at dark. Expected cold and snow later in the week should get the deer moving.

After talking with some of the resorts at the show this weekend the East side bays seem farther along then the West side. By next weekend the bays should be set and maybe some walking to the shallow rocks.
