Another success with the 'Jawbreaker' jig

As I posted on the Mississippi river fourm, I went out on the river this evening to test out the new jigs I got from Scott (DDSBYDAY).  Its was a great evening, best I have had in a while.  Most of the time I would get a few bites here and there, all in the small range.  TONIGHT, was a different one.... I still caught the small ones, I caught 2 keepers (15").  The amazing part was that of the 12 fish I caught....    :fishing2:
10 were on the Jawbreaker Jig!  AMAZING!  My jig that would always work (before I got the 'jawbreakers' in the mail) seemed to get passed over and they would bite the white 'Jawbreaker' ---the only fish I caught on the other jig was when the 'Jawbreaker' was out of the water! 
 I was using a white 1/4oz jig with the pink eye.  I did try the chartreusse, it wasnt as effective as the white.  The bite started early and was often, I tried to snap pictures but I was getting too many bites to get anything decent.  I was out there from 4:00-6:15, and landed 12 walleyes and I had many other bites as well -- missed a few on the set line, but I could feel they were small!




This is the lone picture I got with a fish and the jig.  It was nice, I didnt have to mess around with waiting for the fish to get a good hook, they would attack the jig -- always a solid hook!  :fishing2:

Ill be going out again later in the week, probably Wednesday-Friday!  Ill give you guys updates as they come!
Now i cant wait to get out there, because I finally have something the fish will bite!

Just received mine in the mail... What's the best way to rig them? Tie directly to the jog with a 4# leader, I'm using the 6# Suffix braided on my reels... Going to hopefully use em this weekend

Im hooking the line up right to the ring (connected to the jig) -- the one with the flipper/spinner on it!  You will see what im talkin about, I think thats really the only way to connect it.
They have some great jig action in the water!

If you tie directly to the wire eye(right above the split ring) I think you will have the best action.  I most of the time have a high quality swivel about 18 inches up.  If you are using old twisted line this will keep the lure from spinning.  That flapper blade if free to move knocks against the head.  On the bigger ones you can feel the vibration through the glass when dipped in a beaker with water in it.

Option 2=Use a fine wire leader with a small clip.  I like this because it is easy to switch colors.

I never thought about that, I may have to re-tie my jigs and see how that works.  My favorite jigs are buckshot spoons cause I like when jigs make noise :)  Now I get the best of both worlds, I never thought about the knock against the head.

Scott, your new glo-jigs -- Is the main jig going to be the glow portion or the eye? Or a mixture of both?  Just out of curiousity!

I do them both ways.  I think in your case the solid glow white would be the ticket.  On a lot of my panfish lures I will have glow orange around a black pupil.  The reason being these fish are eating zooplankton and one cell organisms will have a dot where there digestive track is.  So what I am trying to accomplish is to get there attention with the dot.

Here is a pic of how I attach all my walleye jigs..  It works great with the Jawbreakers!  I use 10lb ice fireline to swivel,18" seagaur fluro leader 8lb, a flyfishing lure clip to jig.

Yeah, I need to get new lines for some of my poles, I have 4lb on each of them and I dont use a leader, cause I usually do alot of panfishing and I dont like messing with all the leaders and stuff!  Now that I think about it, if I do leaders i can have a designated walleye pole where I can have heavier line!

In general i have better luck and more confidence in a "fas snap" snap. they are smaller and I have never broken one ,Even when using big big raps in the summer.

Went out tonight for a little bit and we caught 5 walleyes, none big enough to keep!  The guy I was with caught 3 before I even had a bite with my white 'Jawbreaker', so i switched to the chartreusse and they were hittin' right away and i caught the next two fish!
-- White wasnt working today, it was the yellow!  -- What a difference a day makes!

Im going out tomorrow, late afternoon, around 3, so I can catch the early bite!
