I have just got into long distance shooting and am setting up currently with a 243 win. I am looking to get a good scope for it. I have been reading all kinds of good things about a few different scopes and I came across some info on ClearRidge scopes and heard they are being compared to a lot of the higher end scopes out there? anyone out there used them or know someone that has? any other recomendations? I am looking for MIL dot with MOA adjustments....

Tough question to answer as everyone will have their own (and most likely different) opinion.

Personally, I shoot a Bausch & Lomb Balvar 2.5-8x on my '64 Win. Mod. 70 varmint rifle. It is (and was) a very expensive older scope and optics quality are second to none, but I sometimes would like more magnification for smaller targets at 400+ yds.

For the price, I have heard/read good things about Barska, BSA & Hawke scopes - but I have no personal experience with them. Certain Hawke scopes come with free software to calculate ballistics for most calibers when you use the scope's range finding reticle which can help eliminate guesswork.

The following is a good place to compare features and ballpark prices on most scopes. You can shop around for the best deal from there.  http://swfa.com/Riflescopes-C1443.aspx

Redfield 4-12x40 Revolution Rifle Scope

Had this on a Remington 700 22-250 for praire dog shooting and 300 to 350 yards was not a problem.
