I got out shed hunting and found a dead buck.  I contacted the local CO and got a recovery tag.  The buck had a bullet hole in its neck.  The CO said that there wasn't really anything that they could get from the dead deer other than keeping a watch out for other illegal activity in the area.  He was a young deer with a non tipical right side.  I didn't have any trail cam pictures of him so he wasn't a deer that spent to much time on our land.  One of the deer that we shot during the rifle season also had a 22 shell in its butt.  We will be planting a hedge row along the road to try and stop the poaching.

Do you think he was shot during slug season and just wondered over there?

There is no chance he was shot during any season, because I walked this exact spot the first week of jan.

From the looks of his antlers, he must have been injured before. Those people that poach deer should be hung up by there testy's and then hook electrodes to them and then give them 240 volts.
