does anyone know how it works, i am thinking about going saint croix fishing for walleyes on may 8/9 do i need a wisconsin fishing liscense if i launch my boat on the minnesota side of the river? i know that it is OK with either liscense if you launch from that state side.  and also would i have to liscense my boat for wisconsin, or would it be OK with the current minnesota tabs it has on it now?
thanks.

You just have to have a current license for one of the 2 states and your boat has to be up to date with the state that it is licensed in.  I have never heard of having to get a wis boat license to fish in wis or border water.

You will be fine with the MN tabs you have and all you need it a fishing liscense from either state!  As long as you are in the water you will be ok!  Im not sure about the rules if you are fishing from shore, but you wont have to worry about that!

GOOD LUCK - Ive heard some decent reports coming from the St. Croix!

These folks are correct. Either license works on the river and you can launch and/or fish on either side with that license. I've been fishing down there for years. I'm a MN resident yet launch out of Prescott all the time. I've  never had an issue.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.
