Another week of great Walleye fishing has come and gone here at Border View Lodge. Most guests charter fishing have been eating freshly caught Walleye during their stay here and also leaving for home with limits of Walleye. The lake continues to provide excellent live bait fishing. Depending on the weather, most importantly the wind, jig fishing or drift fishing with a spinner rig has been the quickest way to get fish for the dinner table. Typical for this time of year, the most concentrated schools of Walleye are spreading out in the lake. Because of this, our guides have been focusing their efforts all over the lake. We’ve been catching fish a few miles out, and we’ve been catching fish over 25 miles away from the lodge. One of the best features of charter fishing is the ability to go wherever the fish are! Our boats are built for big water.

The weather has been good overall, with the exception of an extremely windy Thursday that made for tough fishing conditions last week. It looks like summer may be returning for the upcoming week. The weatherman is calling for daytime highs in the upper 70s for most of the week.

June and July is the perfect time to charter on Lake of the Woods. The water temperatures are warming up and the Walleyes are beginning to spread out across the lake. Typically some of the better fishing can be a considerable distance away, and the best way to get there, in any weather, is in a 27’ Sportcraft! Don’t forget to ask about our July Midweek Charter Fishing Packages.
