To all,

The issue is that the Friends of the Boundary Waters has filed a lawsuit against having an AT&T cell phone tower near Stump Lake, two miles outside of the Boundary Waters. They say the tower and light will despoil their wilderness experience. Never mind that part of Fall Lake is in the Boundary Waters which allows motor use, and the rest of the lake is not within the Boundary Waters. The lights of homes, cabins, the City of Winton, the Winton water tower, the lights of the baseball field in Ely, and numerous others lights are visible from the Boundary Waters.

We cannot allow a bufferzone to the Boundary Waters!

Please go to the Timberjay website and vote for or against the cell phone tower.

 :reporter;

This is something that is badly needed to help in emergency BWCA situations along with communications in general. Please take a minute to vote yes and help out our neighbors in north/east MN.

I vote yes :happy1:

Who else will help out your neighbors and vote yes? :USA:

Ask them this then.... would they rather have telephone lines running through the area or a cell phone tower.

I voted yes Lee.

79% have voted yes so far!  :happy1:  The same type of arguement is going on in/near Longville-what a joke.  It's a no brainer.

when i go to the bwca, i don't want cell phones, i don't want motors... i want clean water, no disturbances, no calls, no kids screaming, no reminders of the industrialized world...

I want to relax.  ya put the tower up, but keep it by the town.... I don't want to see it.

I have a biased opinion on this subject. Coming from a forest fire fighting background......you don't realize the importance of communications until you need them and don't have them......it could be a life or death situation. Eventhough the erection of a cell phone tower will 'change' the landscape, with the amount of people trampsing around the BWCA, this addition will pay for itself, sooner or later, with the saving of a life. I would understand more so if there were no people around for hundreds of miles, the odds of needing one would be zero/none. It would be like erecting one in the middle of Siberia.......why? But there are hundreds of people in the BWCA, odds are sooner or later, someone will need it. For those situations beyond these circum stances, there are specialized things like SPOT Satellite Tracker, for those who go above and beyond the ordinary. Like I said, just one man's biased opinion.

I voted yes as well.
