3 days of hunting and plenty of birds to go around still!

This made it a day yesterday. After working a couple areas in the morning with nothing to show we went to another spot and were done in about an 1hr 1/2.....

Here is a couple happy dogs...

Here is a few more pics from the weekend........Lots of birds in the area!! We had a blast and there are a few good stories from the weekend. The dogs worked very very good. We had one bird run probably 300 yards on us. Both dogs hot on the trail and he finally got up! He got exactly what he had coming. It was almost slow motion after he got hit the first time he was hit two more times making the bird turn in the air. We wanted to make sure he was down as we didn't want to have to chase him again! ?

The dogs had some good finds. Luci had a perfect point...I walked in and flushed thebird and she stayed steady the whole time...I was pretty impressed with that. It was the final bird of the day putting 4 in the bag. What a strong finish. All birds were recovered, had a few runners. I can't stress enough how good the dogs did and worked together. Good Times!!

This bird was still alive...flapping its wings like crazy..

A proud and tired dog!

And...The Famous Dancing Bear....

Always appreciate the pictures Mayfly.? How were the hunter numbers this weekend.? AS crazy as last.? Also are the birds your getting in the CRP mainly or hugging heavier cover?? We have been find most of ours on edges.? Anymore large migrations from corn to CRP?? We walked pretty hard today for no opportunities but saw alot of roosters on PP near big corn.? Better than sitting at home even if we didn't bag any.

We saw maybe two other groups. Not a lot around at all....I was surprised after last weekend. But we were in a different area. We hunted the Redwood Falls area this weekend.

The birds were scattered. Of course they are in the corn but the corn was coming down like crazy. The area we found all our birds had a lot of different cover. They were in everything. It got to the point were we just followed the dogs....transition areas are and were always good. We found them in cattails....everywhere.

It was a lot of fun. We didn't see any large migrations but we were done early every day and we started when we woke up....so during those hours of a lot of bird movement we were elsewhere.

Have to take next weekend off but we'll be back out the following...skipping deer season again. It's a great weekend to go pheasant hunting as there are no pheasant hunters out...they are all deer hunting ;D
