Scope shimming question

Hi........ new to this website.
I have a question. I have used up all verticle adjustment on my scope. I am shooting about 4 inches high at 100 yards and want to bring down the shot placement. I am told I have to shim the scope. Do I shim the front, back or both?

Welcome to the site Deputy Grizz.....my guess is that you would have to shim the front of the scope to bring the barrel down.

Welcome, and as to your question I would try some different mounts before a shim is used.

If you shoot a magnum or shoot often that shim will work it's way out if not secured in well.

Also it can compact and cause a loose scope.

Leach is right about the front has to go up, you want the scope to go to the bullet hole.

Try some low mounts, or high mounts what ever is oposite what you have now.

All are relay good idea's but before you do to much I would just try to remount your scope or even try to slide it frontwords or backwords just a tad.

Some times that makes all the difference in the world,,,,,not allways...

I guess I should have gave more info. the rifle is a new Ruger km77 mkII. The mounts are part of the rifle so new mounts aren't an option.
