Welcome, whiteoakbuck.  My guess is you or someone always sees a buck from a stand in a white oak tree.  Yes, there are a number of guys from the Chisago area.  I hail from Big Lake.

ok cool im glad i found a place where i can talk with local hunters and the name came from a tip my brother once told me. he said if your hunting 1000 acres and there's only one white oak find a set up near it cuz thats where the deer will be and over the years of talking to people that seems to be the truth but anyway hows the deer herd out in big lake?

White oaks make great stands but it is really hard to drive nails in them.  Although there are plenty deer around Big Lake, I usually hunt about 50 miles north of here where the deer have been abundent.
