Headed down to Pool 4 and met up with Driftwood this morning. Had heard some great reports over the weekend. We were meeting at Evert's Resort to launch the boat. I got there a head of him and went in to speak with Dean about the fishing. He said it had slowed a little since the weekend but fish were still being had. Hot ticket was jigs and plastics. I picked up a few more jigs and some of their plastics they sell there. Dean is great at pointing out what to use as far as what's working now and where the fish are biting. One of the best in the business at getting you on fish.

I was coming out of the bait shop when Trent pulled up. Got the boat in the water and we headed up stream. We fished an area that River Dan had been pounding them on over the weekend and Dean confirmed the bite was good there. I dropped down a Firecracker Paddletail on an orange jig and Trent used close to the same. I also put out a lindy with a fathead. We moved around as much as we could but there were a lot of boats in this are. I decided to use the digital anchor on my Terrova and hover over the fish I was marking in 18 FOW. Didn't take too long and Trent had a fish on but lost it at the boat. The next fish was a nice sized Sheephead. After some more jigging I managed a 15 1/4" eye into the boat. I followed that up with a White Bass and then a small eye. Trent managed a couple of small eyes as well. So after putting some time in, we moved up the river to the damn.

The damn was wide open. In fact, I've never seen a damn open that far. Again, the digital anchor on the Terrova held us just fine but the current was moving around so fast it was impossible to keep a line down. So we moved back down stream. We tried a couple of more places with nothing to show for it. So we went back to the original spot. We thought that casting into shore might pay off. Trent through out a Purple/Pink jig head with an oyster plastic on it. First cast and he had a nice, fat 17" sauger in the boat. We fished some more and didn't have much but some more small fish. I though maybe we would troll around. Well I got a snag and ended up getting us off track and into heavy current. So we moved back to the spot and Trent through out again. Again, on the retrieval he pulled in another fat sauger. We moved in a little closer and found it was a nice 18' hole right there. We fished it hard for another 45 minutes or so with nothing but a couple of more shorts to show for it.

At 3 PM we decided to head in after a little over four hours of fishing. On the way in the motor made some weird noise. We didn't hit anything but it was acting odd. Got us in and got the boat loaded. I'll have to have the boat check out.

All in all it was a great day on the water. Great weather and awesome company. I'm glad we got together Trent, we'll have to do it again soon.
