We are getting ready to hit the ice soon! We are planning to start moving houses out onto the lake Monday/Tuesday and start fishing Wednesday. There is 7-9 inches of ice in most places out on 4 Mile Bay and the lake as of today. The lake froze nice and flat for the most part, and the ice is strong clear ice. The water clarity is looking good as well. There is little to no snow cover on the lake and the forecast looks great for adding more ice this next week.

Over the weekend there were ATVs and snowmobiles out on the lake. Folks are fishing anywhere from 15-28 feet of water off of Pine Island. 22-26 feet seems to be bringing the most consistent action throughout the day with lots of Saugers and a mix of Walleye. In shallower, you’ll find less Saugers but more aggressive Walleye in the mornings and evenings. Gold or glow red/pink is always a good place to start for jig colors. For starters on lures, try Stop Signs, Macho-Minnows, Slick Jigs, Darters, Gem-N-Eyes, and Frostees.

It looks like we have a great winter of fishing ahead of us.

Fish On!
