Some people say that on a big pike you should wait 5 to 10 minutes before pulling your spear and fish up through your hole. Some people say that if you spear a big one you should pull it up right away.

This would be on a fish that you think that you made a good throw on.

Was just wondering what other spear's do or if they do something different?

P.S. I've also heard people yelling from there fish house for somebody to bring a spear over they got a big one.

Bucky,

I let them settledown a bit then bring them up.

I have heard of people yelling to bring a spear over.

All I wanna know is, are we going to be cramped?

I leave them sit. I don't let them swim all over with my spear and make a mess of my hole either. When they hit the bottom I'll hold on the line tight enough so the spear is upright and putting weight on the fish if they thrash at all they just make a little hole. After they tire slowly pull them up, if they start to fight I'll let them right back to the bottom.

Just in case I also have a second spear in the house with me.
