Well, I'm finally getting around to cleaning up the pit that is my garage. One thing my wife has always hated was my rods sitting by the door. To rectify that, I made a ceiling mounted rod rack that holds 15 rods and only takes up 32" of real estate.

I used a 1x3 for the holes. Using a hole saw I alternated between bigger holes for the handles and smaller holes for the tips. Rods alternate back and forth so you can store them close together. I then cut slots into the small holes to get the tips in. After that I mounted each one to a 1/4" piece of wood so it would mount to the ceiling and then sprayed with a finish to protect it.

Once dry, I mounted them to the ceiling with six sheet rock screws.

After that it was time to hang the rods.

All in all it took around two hours or so. Most of that was spent measuring and cutting the holes. It's great storage and they are way out of the way and protected.

Very functional project you completed there. It really looks good! Fawk says you could back the boat in the garage and hang em up form there. Being I am concerned for your safety and devils advocate just how many cords are plugged into the junction boxes that are connected to all the electrical junctions in that cieling outlet?

LOL Ken, I have four shop lights in there. I'm in the process of wiring the garage with a couple of different circuits. I hate people that build something and put two damn outlets in it.

For on the water when I'm fishing, it's a five gallon bucket with PVC around it. Can hold 8-10 rods in a very small footprint. I'll get some pics of it for ya.
