Well, we had a little too much fun Saturday night I think. The plan was to get out on the water by 5:30 or six. I think one of the six boats at the cabin made it out. So we got up around 7:30 and were gonna head out then. Well we hit a snag, one of the guys at the cabin ran to town to get the fixins for biscuits and gravy. We figured we could hang out a little, let it warm up and have some great food. With our bellies full we headed out and got on the water by 9:30 or so.

This time we started out on the north end. We had learned the day before that the wind was not to be messed with. It was a little better with no rain but still didn't feel like letting the lake beat us up two days in a row. So we hit the sand where we had found them the day before. This time we went a little further north and went to about 7 FOW to start our drift. We never drifted deeper than 17 FOW. Sunday was our day, we picked up at least one fish on every drift for the next five hours!

Here's Wade with the biggest of the day at 26".

After Wade put on a clinic to Scott and I by putting four fish (one being a keeper at 17") in the boat, it was my turn. I put in back to back 20.5" eyes.

I then landed a 17" keeper and a 22.5". Wade landed another at about 23". After two days on the water, we were feeling a little bad for Scott not catching anything. It was around 2 PM when Scott got his rod to bend on a fish!! He didn't let up on it either and pulled in a very nice 17" keeper as well. Sadly, that was his only fish of the weekend but he was happy. We did two more drifts for another hour with nothing after Scott's fish and headed in around 3 PM. All fish were taken on a red hook, leech and 7-8' snell.

When we came in we were greeted by a DNR Fisheries guy. He checked our fish for size and tried to sex them. One was a female for sure but he couldn't tell on the other two. So he asked if he could cut the belly open and we told him he absolutely could. All three of our fish were spawned out females. He told us the average for the weekend was about one keeper per boat. It was nice to know we were a little above the curve. He also said crawlers were taking some and to go out to about 25-30 FOW as they were there. We chatted a bit and thanked him for taking the time to do what he does.

We got back to the cabin and Scott had to pack up and head home. A few others of the group at the cabin had to head back as well. Wade and I, along with a few others, had plans to go out Sunday night and Monday morning and then head home late morning. So after Scott packed up we headed over to the Flagship for some dinner. Man was that some great food!! After that, Scott and others left, a couple went fishing and a couple of us napped to be fresher for the water at about 8 PM. Those that had gone fishing called in with reports of catching a lot of fish in 25-30 FOW. I think they had close to 20 fish in the two hours they had been out but no keepers.

We headed out shortly after 8 PM to be greeted with great weather and water conditions. Not to mention one of the best sunsets ever!!

We met up with buddies and fished out in the deeper water with them. It had slowed down by the time we got out there and they moved on to troll some cranks. Wade and I trolled around, the fish were stacked up. We missed several bites and Wade had at least four he set the hook on only to have them spit it out after a few cranks. We were getting close to the end as we were tired and I set into my biggest of the weekend at 23".

We sat in the garage and told stories with the remaining guys that were still there. We didn't get to be as early as we had planned. The alarm went off at 5:30 this morning and we all hit snooze on ours and never got up. We got up and figured it was too late and to just head home. We had a great weekend, spent time with great people and caught very nice fish.

Thanks to the folks that let us stay at the cabin. It's a great bunch of guys up there.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.
