Outboard motor cooling clogged?

If your outboard motor isn't shooting out a jet of water, its not getting cooled and you could ruin your motor.  The water outlet/jet could just be clogged.  Therefore, I keep a long steel leader with one end cut off in the boat to run up inside the water outlet/jet.  Some jets are big like a drinking straw but mine is very narrow and this trick did the trick for me once when it was clogged with silt.

Most of the time, not all, your water pump impeller is bad and should be replaced.
It's an easy thing to do if you know how.

Yeah ya gotta get those things looked at.  I was stuck out on the far end of a lake the time mine got clogged.  Lucky for me thats all it was.

 ;D  " TIP OF THE WEEK " a 30 gal. garbage can works wonders 2 weeks before the boating season starts ! to check the water pump and get the motor running . if you have to replace the water pump or motor problems ,this will give you ample time for shipment and work time .
