Travel is not a problem.  Fish are biting(although small).  I drove by White Bear and it is also very busy.  Today was a great day to be on the lake.  :happy1:    I am a little nervous driving on WBL.  Has anyone driven out to Manatou Island yet?   I don't feel blazing any trails.

How was the ice on Bald Eagle - were people driving out still?  The access looked pretty rough last time I was out there.
-- I have a day off on Monday, so I may be hitting the lake that day.  I am hoping I can drive out, I would hate to drag all the stuff out.  This snow didnt help, but the weather is cold.

The first 10 yards of the access were kind of messy.  Plenty of ice.  Be sure to have ice cleats with you.  The ice is slick.  As soon as you get a little water on it you have to be careful.  Throw some ice chunks around your hole for some traction.  I was in 24ft.  The fish were at 20.  Mostly crappies.  I did not try minnows only waxies.  They were suggesting euro larvae at the bait shop.  The waxies worked  fine once I went with a no color horizontal jig.  Caught a couple with the eye drop but the daph was the ticket.

I was out last tuesday and slammed them around the same spot we first fished.  Lots of nice sunnies, first time that I actually caught the sunnies, its been mostly crappies for a while.  I did keep 10 decent crappies too.
I will be sure to remember the ice cleats.  Thanks!

Still plenty of ice but quite a bit of snow on the ice.  I wouldn't try it without 4 wheel drive.  Crappie bite was steady from 2:30- 4:30.  If we get a couple of warmer days the snow should no longer be a problem.

I was out today - no crappies, but a limit of sunnies, some smaller, but they will be tastey.
Ice is thick and the access is no problem. There are a few roads, otherwise just other peoples trails.

What time were you out?  I only got one sunny.  I didn't start until 2:30 pm.

I started at about 9am.
The drilled holes around the spot we fished before 22-24FOW and didnt mark any fish.  So I was fishing in about 17FOW and the gills were right off the bottom, stready action all day and I missed alot.  Had to switch jigs often as always, caught some with the 1/32oz pink ATI47, white and yellow Cyclops, Firetiger Daph and other jigs I had in my box.
-- I did catch 3 crappies out of another hole in about 20FOW, but they were all small, so I went back to the gill hole.  I quit fishing at about 2pm, I did try the crappie hole before I got off the ice, but only got 1 bite, so I decided to pack up.

The lake was pretty dead today, maybe 10 people total on the lake today.  4x4 is a must if you are going off the beaten path.  Ice is still close to 24" thick, but there is about 8 inches of the white ice on top.

What a complete zoo on sunday july 3rd,every parling slot was filled,4 squads kept a handle on the crowd loading and unloading,it amazes me that people still pull inline and rig their boats and unload their gear while guyz behind them wait to get their boats loaded, someone could make a good video on different methods of launching boats and the art of trailer basic's in backing up.

Good stuff to watch.
