boy, I better get that new zipper in my portable soon.
i have been spoiled the last few nights, but tonight, though warm, it was windy!
the kids went with to an area I discovered last night to be holding fish.
we packed up the big bear and the dogsled and headed out.

the first thing to do, was to light the grill. I think this was the only reason the kids wanted to go ;D

we cooked up some dogs and the kids were ready to leave ???
I wasnt having any of it.
we aint going any where until we catch us a fish.
so we dropped a line and the perch were right on schedule

it kept the kids entertained until this guy bit.

the first thing to happen when he set the hook, was the reel fell off the pole :o, then after helping the kid with my patented hand over hand retrieval method, we horsed this 21 1/2 inch beast onto the ice, where...it proceded to get all tangled up in the line! >:(
we got our picture and released the fish and then I went about the chore of untangling the mess. while I was working on it, I could see fish moving through on the graph.
I told kate to keep an extra eye on the rod behind me. she said "ok papa".
a couple minutes I looked back to see my rod doubling over and I set the hook to snap the line. GRRRRR!
that was it. the kids had had enough and I wasnt going to fight it.
we loaded back up and headed in.
I wish I could have stayed out there another couple hours.
fun no less.
nice fish andrew!!
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

THWACK KILLS!!
