I'm going up to Burntside this weekend and i was wondering if anyone has any tips on fishing Lake Trout this time of year.  I've tried jigging for them on ice before, but never open water.  And the only piece of info i've heard is that right now i should be able to find them shallower around the 20 foot drops opposed to just jigging the really deep holes.  I heard using white or yellow spoons and deep diving stickbaits are my firends for this.  Is this correct?  The person who gave me this advice hasn't fished for Lake Trout much at all.

If you get a chance stop in The Great Oudoors bait shop in Ely.  Talk to Jim Maki.  He is a member here and a life long resident of Ely.  I doubt you can find any better information anywhere else.  You could also try sending him a pm.   (Thegreatoutdoors)
