He became president of the National Rifle Association in 1998, proclaiming his rifle could only be taken from "my cold, dead hands" and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2003 -- the highest civilian honour in the United States.

Hey NG... yeah...too bad about Chuck,  always liked him...I think it was actually " Pryed from my cold dead hands"...  I always loved that line..of course you gotz the old: "ITS THE PEOPLE!...SOLIENT GREEN IS THE PEOPLE!!! :bow:   Heres to Chuck, we lost a good one! :toast:
