I'm going to give it a test run today.  I plan to hunt this evening and tomorrow morning.  Mostly just making sure I have everything and still know how.  :rotflmao:

Planning on going tonight with my daughter. She says she has an itchy triger finger that needs to get scratched.

Saw a few turkeys this mourning also. Was so calm the deer could hear you fart 30 yards away.

Well she was the 7th deer of the night and the 1st doe. Came from behind me slightly quartering to me. Stopped behind the brush and I drew, she stepped out at 6 yards and the rage 2 blade did the rest. She did 2 leaps and stopped 20 yards away wobbled back and forth and tipped over. Took out both lungs and the top of the heart.

Yesterday evening my son watched 4 does and a fawn taking turns swimming in a beaver pond.  They hung around for half an hour sometimes directly below him.  I my son was more interested in watching than shooting.  This morning he had a 6 pt at 15 yards then he saw the big one about 5-10 yards behind him.  The big 8 or 10 was quartering strongly towards him at 20 yards.  The little guy circled him and hopped away and the big one turned and followed again no deceint shot.

Was your son all the way to the north end of your land?
Make your first shot count, it might be the only one you get.

We didn't see anything.  Bad wind for the best stands so we stayed on the edges and didn't educate the deer.

Stnmtz,
Way to go on the coyote.  I'm guessing a doe with fawn will be vary wary if a coyote is in the area.

lentz,
Are you sure they weren't just snorting at you or your scent?  I don't think bucks are fighting yet.  My son had two bucks come in together.  No sign of rut or agatation between them.
Yes, acorns, acorns everywhere.  My guess is you just about have to get in their bedroom because they only have to go a few yards to fill up on acorns.

dakids,
Saturday my son was up north by the beaver pond.  He was really amused by the deer taking turns jumping in the pond.  I guess if you have a water hole, that would be a good place to look for them.   He saw the bucks up to the north east where I had the camera last year.

Cody,
Congrats on the doe.  You are the MNO'er to score. Way to go.

Hunter2,
Now we all know what NOT to do in a deer blind.

most of the bucks i seen were together. they sparred a bit but that was about it. one set of twins before i shot the doe, were a little aggressive towards each other, ears pinned back and stiff legged walks trying to intimadate each other, they got a little physical when they started to spar. it was cool, it was only about 20 yards from me and i got to watch the whole thing. i even got a picture on my phone just before they started to spar.

And 10 min after that the started to fight and they did that for almost 15 min

Had 5 eating under my stand Saturday night. One spike and the rest were does, all got a free pass. Hunted the Metro last night and passed an eight pointer that needed another year. Couple pics from Saturday night.
