The talk around Kelliher is that we would like the Lake to be considered boarder waters, so Walleye fishing could stay open until the quota is met.  This would extend the season and really help our economy.  Without sportsman, we would not have the business in the area that we do.

How much support beyond the Kelliher area is there for this idea?

I'm a little confused on the term border waters.  By Boarder waters are they referring to it boardering the Red Lake Band/Nation?  I only ask because I am unsure if that is what is meant.

They think that Upper Red Lake should be considered border waters because of the Red Lake Band.

The URL Band considers themselves a sovereign nation.  Therefore it should be considered a border water!

That will never happen, first of all we only have access to 20% of the entire Upper lake and no access to all of Lower.

Secondly, the DNR regulates Upper Red too hard to make any drastic changes, they finally have the lake back to normal again.

Just my opinion though.....
