Found this video from Alaska DNR showing how to fillet eelpout.  That guy gets a lot of meat from that one fish.

Thank you Willfish! That is one of the most useful pieces of information I have seen on the web. I have always known that burbot are some great tasting fish but have dulled many a knife trying to cut through that God aweful tough skin they carry. I should have known they would clean similar to a bullhead but the thought never crossed my mind.Great info and thanks again

I agree.   I would like to give that a try.  Tips on  getting most of the slime off before you start would be helpful too.  After it's done  I'm thinking the boiling in 7 up for the cooking part.   :happy1: :happy1:

GREAT!!!  I am headed back up to LOTW this year - I will try this!  We barely got any meat off them last year, but it was as good as always.  Boiled and dipped in butter!
Scott, I will have to try the 7up this time - I remember you mentioning it last year.

Check out this cool story from Alaska about a 20lb eelpout (burbot).  Look at the size of it's belly - the guy says that it had three pounds of eggs!
