I caught a small pike today that was VERY thin.  It had a large bump on its belly and had a piece of mono sticking out of its stomach.  I cut its stomach open and found a lure which took up most of the room in its stomach.  The paint was missing from the lead head so I decided to through the hammer handle away.  I didnt want to risk the health of my family.  Here are a few pictures.

That's a trusty Beaver Bait.  Great bait for bass.  Not good for this particular pike.  :whistling:  Great pics.  I have heard of bass with plastics in their stomachs.  I never keep them so I wouldn't ever see them.

dakids that is really interesting. The closest I came to something like that was a walleye with a whistler jig in its stomach. The prop was missing but maybe the angler removed it. When you say mono sticking out of its stomach was that noticed when you gutted it or was it coming outside of the fish from somewhere else?  Awesome post and thanks for sharing that.

There was about 3 feet of mono hanging out of its mouth. There was a very small piece of braided line attached to the end of mono.

I pulled these little guys out of a 17 inch walleye from this weekend.  It looks like little pannies have been on the menu.
