2 years ago we had 6 or 7 different bears hitting the baits. Between a fresh clearcut and a big ceder bog.  We had lots of berries on the ground and there was sign everywhere.  They were comming in at all times of the day and night.  2 days before the opener he shows up again and he was the only bear to ever show up on cam again.  I watched him coming through a fresh clear cut. The 6 foot tall poplar were parting like the red sea and he stopped 20 yards right behind the baitsite.  He never came any closer.  He never moved until after we left.  Pretty nerve racking climbing down with a giant less than 30 yards away in the dark.  The wind was in our favor but he knew something was up.  We tried the 2 hunters going in and one hunter leaving 30 min before dark.  We tried cutting back the amount of bait.  Any suggestions Boar?

he has ya peged. Those big boys pattern u, when he showed up for the fisrt time he claimed it, thats why no ther bear showed on cam, he probabley laid 30-40 yards from the site at all times, my irst suggestion was gonna be have a guy leave 30 inuets before dark like ya did, but unless that guy has beenbaiting with you an his scent has been associated with the food, his new scent at the site he didnt like , the wind was in your favor? he maybe didnt smell ya but he saw you when doing the leave early thing make sure the second stand of course is extreamly well hidden an not in close proximity to the primary stand. If I was hunting this bear, Id do it all myself never letting anyone else in the site except to drop me off or to leave early, an if u do the leave early trick like u did, yur partner needs to be baiting with yu from the begining. I would have an alternate trail if possible, to sneek back in on if you go solo, he's gona claim that bait again if your in his core area an pattern u again, if ur going rifle, Id back up my stand to a 50 yard shot, that guy will circle the site 2 -3 time in a small circle an then bigger circle, scent checking till he fells comfertable, 16 ft high for a stand to try an get ur scent higher. I hunt double ladder stands an enclose them, if with a bow, the higher the better an sides enclosed. these are just a few thing I would do in the begining , but its hard to suggest other things untill the game begines an ur delt the cards to play.OOOOO I love it!

My dad did most of the baiting.  We always left a tshirt that we each had worn every day on the rungs of the ladder stand which was 25 yards from the site.  I will try the second stand option.  I use a tree saddle and can get very high.  30 feet if necessary.

Yup shirts at the site are good but each bear is different some dont tollerate any human smell at a site, even if its lingering from baiting. No doubt hes been to a few rodeos before. are u Bow hunting him? certainly take a look at ur stand location also, especially whats surrounding u, get engulfed, I love pine trees for this reason, they swallow one up to being invisiable. of course ur back to the setting sun, you know that, an get up high. it could be that when he showed up 2 days before huting he just wasnt comfertable yet as he hled off, do your pictures daytime when ur not hunting him an night time when u do? if so u know what that means. what is a tree saddle, if it cant get you in the folieage an broken up an ur just sitting there like a tick on a dog, not good.  I got 4 days on LOW got to go, man cant wait for baiting.
