2012-2013 spearin season

well in 4 days at this time i will be looking down not 1 but 2 spear holes!!!!!!!!!! waitin for ole jingle lips to pass thru, and he will live to see another day. anything that looks 10lbs and bigger gets a free pass on the lake i will be at. just a blast watching the underwater world with 2 wide screens!!!!!!!!!!

thanks.............just talked to a guy that was up on cass last weekend up thru tuesday. there was 7 inches of ice on cass with about 3 inches of snow. they didnt see lotz of fish but the ones they did get were in the 30 to 35 inch range.

When you are spearing can you have a tip up in as well?

In Minnesota as of recently you may have one line to angle and one spear. So yes one can be a tip up. I will use a tip up occsionally but it is also fun to double up the spear hole with a decoy and a sucker on a hook rig. Sometimes the northerns will blast onto the minnow so fast you can not react quick enough with the sharp stick.

got that right kenhuntin!!! thats what i do in my house. i cut 2 holes 1 has a live sucker on a harness the other a fake decoy. the live one definetly keeps ya from napping off, especially if the fish are agressive. but when these pictures where taken we had a day when then nordskis showed more interest in the fake decoy.

lentz, to answer your question, i dont use tippups in my spearhole. i typically angle/play with sunfish. we had 3 friends along that did the tipup thing. the fish i posted in the challenge i just happened to be  'ing and having a  when the flag went up and i got to bring it in!!!!

well, unfortunetly my spearing season is over. to many things on the honey do list. and add to the fact theres boo-coo snow up north. i really wantedto get back to the cabin for on last huraah but........... 2 ft of snow kinda made up my mind. it was a good year even though i only got out 4-5 times. oh well till next year!!!!!!!!!!!!! they just get bigger!!!
