    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
I along with 7 other guides worked for the Outpost lodge guiding Steve Wilkes' annual air conditioning group from all over the Midwest to another great trip for them. We fished 23 guys to limits of walleye along with some smallmouth bass Northern Pike and pictured on day three one of the fellows in my boat caught the 2nd largemouth bass I have caught in my boat in 30 years on Oahe. We all fished the Big Bend area on Sharpe (due to storms in the area) on day one with everyone catching Limits. We then all spent the next two days fishing right out of cow creek/spring creek on Oahe avg. around 25 walleye per boat with everyone catching plenty of there bonus fish along with a lot of big walleye. Most boats had some 24 to 28 inch fish with the largest a 29 incher. Most of these fish were caught on either jigs/gulp or bottom bouncer minnow combinations in depths from 5 fow out to 25 fow on the lower end of the lake. There is a very good bite all up and down both Oahe and Sharpe with the bigger female fish starting to bite. Water temps are now in the 50's most place's with bays/back end of creeks having near 60 degree temps. I am not sure if there is any Salmon coming in but I believe that bite is slow. All of us guides would like to thank all of these guys for coming annually and it is a great way for company's to express their appreciation to the crews that due good work for them.
