If you are going out, visit these guys for the most up to date news.

MILLE LACS LAKE - Malmo Market, Lynwood Elliott, State Hwy 47 and 18 East, NE corner of Mille Lacs (320-684-2295)
Fishing has been good on Mille Lacs. Ice conditions have been improving with the cooler weather; many areas of the north end have 13"-16" of ice. There are also areas with 4"-5" so make sure and go out of a resort and follow their directions. Anglers have been catching walleyes on the edges of most flats. Best luck has been using small kastmasters or swedish pimples tipped with a minnow head. Jig slowly as the fish seem spooky, most hits come as a dull weight when the jig is still. Agate reef and big point have also been producing fish jigging. Perch action has been sporadic on the flats, many small ones with an occasional 12"-13" perch.  Wax worms and small jigs, cameras help to locate the bigger fish.  Early morning and 3 to 6 pm have been best.  Bigger fish have also been caught  from 8-11 pm.  Good Luck.

MILLE LACS LAKE – Johnsons Portside, Kelly or Steve, 1 mile north of Isle on Hwy 47 SE side of the lake (320-676-3811)
Wow a couple of cold nights makes all the difference.  A busy weekend proves it.  Ice conditions improved greatly with the freezing night temps.  Most resorts reporting 16"-20", and letting 1/2 ton and smaller out.  Hunters Point having a road to the mud flats where anglers were catching limits of walleye this weekend,  a lot of bigger fish being caught,  but that’s always fun.  The four and five mile gravel bar is producing a lot of walleye and perch.  So get up here and fish~!!  Also remember to email reports and your fish pictures to kelly@johnsonsportside.com,  and check out the web for "Perch Extravaganza" updates, buttons going on sale soon~!!!! www.johnsonsportside.com
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?
