A heat wave is the news with temps in the 90's and a few 100's. Actually when you are the water those temps are not as noticeable as long as you have a breeze. The cooler water acts some as an air conditioner. When you hit the bank and until you get into air conditioned rooms is when you will feel the heat. I finished guiding Mat Lyne and his wife Nancy from Broken Bow NE. to limits of fish on Sharpe and some good fish and some little fish on Oahe. I then fished Larry Russell and wife to limits of fish at the bend. We caught the fish at West Bend in around 20 fow on bouncer /crawler/gulp rigs and on Oahe we caught the fish both pulling plugs and pulling spinners along the tree's on the big flat's. We used Crawler rigs and for the plug pulling flicker shads all in around 25 fow. I then took Alex, Gus and Uly Freitag from Des Plaines Illinois along with grandmother Francie for one day on Oahe (3 hours) and one day on Sharpe (4 hours) and they hit some real nice fish with Gus catching a 26 inch walleye and brother Uly a nice 24 incher. They also caught a northern and a few catfish. Their mother Alex caught some real nice fish but the two boys hit the big one's a couple of lunkers for a couple of great little boys. We then fished West Bend on Sharpe to limits of nice walleye averaging around 17 inches. We caught the big fish on Oahe in around 20 fow on nightcrawler/bouncers's and did the same at the bend. It is staying about the same story on Oahe with a lot of little fish coming in and every other day or so some real nice stringers. Sharpe remains very good for the 15 to 18 inch size fish an a few over 20 inchers in some bags. Smallmouth and Northern pike continue to be bonus fish. If you are fishing bring plenty of water/beverages as staying hydrated can keep problems away with these hot days probably staying around for a while. Fly Spray is a necessity. Just about all ways of catching fish will work right now so if you like a certain style of fishing give it a try.
