I hear a lot about slow death hooks. Just wondering if anyone has fished with them much. I just bought some and am starting to tie up crawler harnesses with them. Any thoughts on rigging, presentation, effectiveness would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

By harness do you mean more than one hook. If so, I have never heard of them being used that way. I don't see how they could work properly if tied in a harness. As far as I know they are meant to be used in a single hook presentation. Sometimes with a bead, sometimes with a bead and blade. I use the pretied Mustad Size 2 rigs with one red bead. If you typically fish fairly clear water I don't think the blade is necessary. It takes some practice to get the crawler rigged correctly so that they spin properly. Once you get them working they will catch any species of fish. I have found that the Berkley Gulp 2" Pinched off Crawler works better than a real crawler. They hold up a lot longer. I have been using them on the L shaped bottom bouncers but recently bought some slick sticks so I'm going to try them next time.

That is what I was wondering about. It seemed like 2 hooks would be a problem, but I wasn't sure.
Thanks a bunch.

Ive been using the Slow Death hook for two years. Its seems to work great during the may Fly hatch.

A float is a good idea with the SD hook.

Tip.
I make my own rigs up but I use a Smile Blade with the Sd hook because they spin great at slow speeds
I use a number of beads and fish it with a Lindy quick change sinker the Smile Blade come in many colors. The rig on the right is premade if you dont want to make your own.

Pics of my setup. Kirk I use a number four hook for this.

Bob you use a number 6 hook? That's the smallest hook right? Not a lot of room for the crawler.
