this fall im going to be doing some state land hunting near Crosby Ironton near the pits, so far I have scouted one smaller patch of land and it had some really good sign but we will see how it looks as we get closer to the season. next time I go up there I will scout a large chunk of land and try to find some oak trees for when the acorns start to drop.

so do any of you have plans to bow hunt state land?

Try this website.

Choose your county and go to the counties website.  Use the mapping gis.  Not all counties are created the same.  The cass county website shows ownership, forestry, contour, logging roads among many other overlay options.  Find a few good looking bottle necks or saddles on the computer and use website to get gps locations before you leave home.  Shortens the amount of shoe leather used.

Gps any old deer stand, deer sign and mark on the map when you get home.

I can spend DAYS looking for new spots to explore.  some spots will be home runs, others will have other hunts illegal permanent stands.

Good luck
