Hey Guys and Dolls! I need opinions about what to do here for duck hunting later on today. We are going to be getting up to our area mid afternoon which gives us 3 options for the remainder of the day.

-Jump shoot our ponds that we walk into and call it a night.
-Set up on the lake for the evening shoot
-Set up camp and leave it all for the morning.

I'd like to take a shot at a 3 day bag limit and hunting when we get up there would be our only chance. It's a 3 1/2 hour trip so's making the best of it counts.

We are curious as to whether or not jumping our ponds will eliminate ducks being there for the next day. I am of the opinion that the ducks will come in and out over the evening/night/morning before we hit them again tomorrow. Thoughts?

Well, we decided to jump the larger flooded timber ponds since the expance gave us more ability to have ducks come in and out and it worked out. Got some woodies and they were back in it the next day again. The lake had birds on it when we got there but we would have busted them out after launching anyway. We got a good bunch of birds but didn't do as well as we thought we would. The wind just died for the whole weekend. Decoys looked like decoys. A real thick nice fog on Saturday morn but either we couldn't see the ducks or they came in and out of view so quick that we had no shots. We could barely see our decoys at 40yds so I think the ducks couldn't see them either. Hard to say and of course we just plain missed a bunch. Ended up with 14 for the weekend and a few grouse. Teal, Buffle, Rings, Bluebills and Woodies. Only have one mallard to speak of for 4 weekends of hunting. Then again, we've never had any amounts of them to speak of where we hunt. Always get a really good mix of ducks.
