Fishing on Lake of the Woods- LOW Tourism

The ice is on its way, and ice fishing typically begins around Dec. 6th, give or take.  Right now, there is still open water fishing to be had. Rocky Point is still open, and in addition to walleyes, sturgeon are biting from Rocky Pt. over to Long Point. Anchoring and jigging still the best method for walleye with a 3/4 oz jig tipped with shiner. Try Long Point and 4 Mile Bay in 18-22 feet during the day. 

The Rainy River still hot with nice fish. Best results evenings anchored up and jigging with shiners in 15-22 feet of water. Try Vidas Landing, Baudette Bay, and in front of the Airport.  Nice smallmouth being caught near rocky/boulder areas.

Up at the NW Angle, walleyes are grouped up in neck down areas with current in 22 - 30' and some rocky points adjacent bays.  Big crappies biting well in 25 - 28' evenings.  Pike have feed bag on and are nailing the walleye jigs.
